Working Prototype

The social learning site is in the prototype phase with most of the elements and functions needed to be implemented:

The chosen interface design is shown from the paper prototype but the background is needed for consideration:

Qualitative Research upon Social Learning

In understanding about social connectivity in learning, the important methodologies is depending on Qualitative research or data gathering as it may. Because it is of great importance of user requirements also real life experiences in learning higher education.

These are three important literatures concerning research relating to my project

Van Dijk - Network Society
He researches about social networking also Students learning alone

Norman - Emotional Design
His theory about Robot tutors can motivate people to learn, also the concept of Peer to Peer Learning

Scott - Social Network Analysis
More about social networking on how they are built but theory on Strength of weak ties relates to the last subject on Group learning

Paper Prototyping Method

Paper prototyping is after Card sorting.

This concerns on Interface designing and user testing as practice, although it is not about the real thing, its just about information structuring and architecture of sketches aligned as a link:

Testers:

Thomas Folan
Junior Standly

They are testers as they examine the paper based sketches narrating in their minds upon what the link is about and what type of content it contains.

Card Methodology

Card sorting gives people a stack of cards then they sort them by thinking about the connection or flow of information maybe like a cognitive walkthrough or sitemap.

The beginning of my project is relating to social connectivity upon learning and social networking with three stages:
  1. Self-Learning
  2. Peer to Peer Learning
  3. Group Network Learning
Now that E-learning is evolving with new styles and ways of learning electronically as it fascinates everyone to learn with or without support.
